On offer is a custom built Frank Peckham fully equipped bicycle. The history: About a year ago I bought this bike from the wife of the original owner Steve G. He had worked in a shop in Long Island, New York in the 1980’s. It was during this time that Steve had Frank custom build this frame. Eventually, Steve moved to Southern California and opened a shop of his own in Chula Vista, just south of San Diego. All of the contact info will pass to her new owner. The frame is one of only 197 built by Frank Peckham of Wantagh, Long Island, New York. The frame was Steve’s pride and joy. She has a 21 inch seat tube center to center and a 21 inch top tube center to center. The frame was built using Bocama lugs and Campagnolo vertical drop outs. The Bike: The bicycle is still living in San Diego, California now; she did not make the trip overseas to Italia. As you can see, the bike is a mix of some of the best of components of the era; 1980ish. Campagnolo crankset, Shimano derailleurs, SunTour, Modolo brakes, Cinelli alloy gold anodized toe clips and Mavic Open Pro clincher wheels. All that and a solid brass head badge too! The bike is certainly hardly ridden as is attested to by the lack of wear on the chainrings, brake pads and rims. The bike has been loved a lot, but not ridden much and in a very long time. I would like her to be appreciated in both ways. With that in mind, I’m asking a very reasonable $1,199 for this very nice piece of American frame building history in near perfect condition. There are scratches on one of the brake levers. The Deal: Please find me as “Johnny Boy 1959” on FLICKER and look for the Peckham folder for lots more pictures of this incredible preservation piece.. You can find some Frank Peckham history on the Classicrendezvous dot com site. Go to “USA” and then look for the Frank Peckham folder. BE AWARE: This item will be shipped out of San Diego, California! Packing is on me and the shipping will be Fed-Ex Ground at actual cost. I will refund any excess shipping cost under the $175. A very fair deal. Grazie, Johnny Pergolizzi If you are at all interested, give me a holler and we’ll talk it out. I’ve gone back to Torino, Italia and she needs a new caretaker!
